| Opeation Gift Cards started by Stamford DAV Chapter #13 and Derby/Shelton Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter #1 has expanded to include 40 other units and individuals. Since October 2005, during 59 monthly/bimonthly visits, 8,930 "Thank You" kits, including $178,600 in PX gift certificates, have been distributed to our wounded and injured troops at Walter Reed and Bethesda Military Hospitals in Washington DC under Connecticut’s Operation Gift Cards program.
