| Opeation Gift Cards started by Stamford DAV Chapter #13 and Derby/Shelton Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter #1 has expanded to include other chapters and posts from the American Legion, American Veterans (AMVETS), Disabled American Veterans, Marine Corps League, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Vietnam Veterans of America. Since October 2005, during 52 monthly visits, 7,880 "Thank You" kits, including $157,600 in PX gift certificates, have been distributed to our wounded and injured troops at Walter Reed and Bethesda Military Hospitals in Washington DC under Connecticut’s Operation Gift Cards program.
